An accordian book is made by pleating a piece of paper so that it zigzags back and forth. Another name for this book is Concertina. You will take home several different kinds of accordion books, even some with pockets. No experience necessary! All supplies included, however, you may bring any decorative paper you may have.
About Wendy Fox:
Wendy has been fascinated with letter forms since she began to write in the first grade. However, her first calligraphy class wasn’t until 1984 at Francis Tuttle. The lettering classes led to other art forms such as bookbinding with solarplate printmaking. She has attended numerous lettering, book arts and printing classes for the last 35 years. One of her favorite classes was the year long study with Reggie Ezell, a very well known teacher in the calligraphy world. She had several pieces on exhibit at the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One of her favorite places to study is Ghost Ranch, near Abiquiu, New Mexico.
The first class in solarplate printing method was with Louise Grunewald at Ghost Ranch in 2012. She then received a grant from OVAC to study solarplate with Dan Weldon (the pioneer of this printing method) and has recently taken a second class with Weldon. She has also taken a week-long class with Catherine Kernan to learn about using Akua Inks.
She is involved with the mentorship program at ARTSPACE. She taught the solarplate printing process to several high school art students in the fall 2019 semester, and is currently teaching bookbinding.
Wendy has taught private students, classes at ARTSPACE and completed commissions for several clients.
