AVANTI INCLUDED NEW PAINTINGS AND INSTALLATIONS BY SANCHEZ CREATED FROM YEARS OF OBSERVING HIS OWN BEHAVIOR AND TRANSLATING IT INTO COLOR. COLOR BECOMES CONCEPT, PROCESS, SYSTEM, CONSTRUCTION AND RHYTHM. UTILIZING BAROQUE SHAPES AND COLORS, SANCHEZ INVESTIGATES PAINTING AS A MEDIUM AND ITS ABSOLUTE POTENTIAL AS CONCEPTUAL FUNCTION.
"We react to sensory stimulus before we access language. I am aware of translating everything I experience into language. The translation of words, images and sounds comes to me as a mass of emotions.
That place is near to chaos, forcing the viewer away from conventional thinking; giving the viewer the possibility to travel deep into their own imagination.
My work reflects years of observing my own behavior and translating it to color. As an artist, I have committed myself to going beyond tradition, but also allow myself to go back at random.
Color becomes concept, process, system, construction and rhythm. In creating my translation, I utilize baroque shapes and colors to investigate painting as a medium and its absolute potential; as conceptual function, works with opposites: cause and effect; ideally ending with memory and emotion.
Our perception to the world around us is created in reference to our experiences and emotions; allowing us to respond to life."

LIN HARTGROVE-SANCHEZ’ BACKGROUND AS AN ARTIST IS PRIMARILY LIVE THEATER, HOWEVER, SHE HAS CHOSEN TO RE-CHANNEL HER CREATIVE ENERGY INTO THIS NEW BODY OF WORK EXPLORING WOVEN PHOTOGRAPHY.
HER WORK COMBINES PHOTOGRAPHY AND WEAVING INTO AN ART FORM THAT IS SIMULTANEOUSLY THREE DIMENSIONAL, IMPRESSIONISTIC, AND SURREAL. THE RESULT IS AN ENGAGING PIECE OFFERING A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE FAMILIAR. LIN CREDITS HER HUSBAND ERNESTO SANCHEZ FOR INSPIRING HER TO MAKE ART.
My background as an artist has been primarily in the realm of live theater. Because of the physical demands of performing I decided to take a break this year. This body of work is the result of that rechanneled energy that otherwise would have come out on stage.
I had never made a serious attempt at making art before my husband came into my life. I credit him with inspiring me.
My artwork combines two loves: photography and weaving into an art form that is at one time three-dimensional, impressionistic, and surreal. My subject matter originates from travels far, to as near as my own back yard.
The result is an engaging piece that pulls the viewer in for a fresh perspective on the familiar.
