Please join us for the Opening Reception of Reclamation Re-Creation, an exhibition celebrating 20 years of [Artspace]!
Reclamation Re-Creation chronicles [Artspace’s] two-decade status as a community hub for the arts. A timeline throughout the galleries will feature the art center’s major exhibitions and milestones over two decades, along with assemblage art from the building’s original renovation. Visitors can also contribute their memories and creativity to a community art piece.
In 1995, Laura Warriner purchased a dilapidated warehouse building at 1 NE 3rd Street, which she named Untitled. 1997 marked the space’s first major exhibition by American sculptor Jesús Bautista Moroles. [Artspace] has since exhibited artists such as Kiki Smith, Robert Rauschenberg and El Anatsui. Reclamation Re-Creation also anticipates the art center’s future of public engagement, as community takes precedence in all [Artspace] programs and exhibitions.
“The anniversary exhibition commemorates our 20-year history, while looking forward to our future journey in the arts community,”
- Laura Warriner
This exhibition will be on view through December 30th.
