Join us on on Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October 14th from 10am - 5pm for a two-day workshop with our exhibiting artist Janet O'Neal! Janet O'Neal is an award-winning multimedia artist, photographer and teacher currently living in Santa Fe. O'Neal has worked in watercolor, printmaking, painting, ceramics, multimedia assemblage, sculpture and photography, and her desire to express new ideas and emotions is explored through new techniques and media.
This will be a comprehensive and detailed workshop and demonstration exploring the use of high gloss resins as a coating for acrylic collages and paintings. Participants will learn the basics of working with the resins, safety precautions, and how to make their own molds from which they can create cast resin forms. They will create their own resin teardrop similar to those in O'Neal's current exhibition One Thousand Tears. We will introduce the new non-vocarb, non-toxic resin matt finishes and creative ventures using colored resin. Additionally, we will explore encaustic-like resin matt finishes and creative ventures using colored resin. Exciting ideas juxtaposing gloss resin surfaces with other material will be shared.
Each participant will receive a pre-made wood substrate before the workshop on which to create their image. Each participant should bring their completed image on the first day of the workshop, ready for a gloss resin coating. Resins can add new and exciting dimension to any artist’s work.
All materials are provided, except for a vocarb paint project respirator, which we encourage our participants to bring.
The cost of this workshop is $250/person. This is an all day class on both days so you may want to pack a lunch or snacks!
Parking is available in the lot behind our building.
