Join us on Thursday, March 22nd from 5-8pm for the opening reception of our 2nd Annual All-Schools Mentorship Exhibition!
In 2011, the Press at Untitled began a Mentorship Program to work with a small group of high school students who had limited exposure to art, but wanted the opportunity to learn more about printmaking, the book arts, and works on paper. This intensive mentoring extended over a three year period with monthly visits to the studio and has grown to accept and impact new schools every year.
As the program continues and evolves, Artspace at Untitled works to provide high school students access to printmaking equipment that is typically used in professional or collegiate printmaking environments as well as expose them to a range of artistic methods, local art institutions, and lectures. This program gives our students access to artistic practices that could not be accomplished in any normal Oklahoma City high school setting.
During our Mentorship program the students are expected to analyze their work through peer critiques and artist statements. They create work for our Steamroller Printmaking Festival each spring and for our annual juried Mentorship Exhibition every March. This year's exhibition will feature linoleum relief prints, plexiglass monotypes, encaustic monotypes, bookmaking and letterpress works, screen prints, and a selection of large-scale wood carvings that were made for the Steamroller Festival.
We hope you will join us as we celebrate the hard work that our students have put forth for this exhibition with a family friendly reception featuring a non-alcoholic beverage bar, free pizza, and live music!
