You’ll create this adorable Silk Flip Front Top for yourself or as a gift, using minimal sewing and fun dyeing techniques. Enjoy creating colors that excite you. Silk, one of the most durable fabrics, offers both beaty and practicality – it’s machine washable and absorbs dye with stunning intensity.
In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to a chromatic cascade dying process using Acid Fiber Dyes. You’ll learn how to use these vibrant dyes, and the necessary accompanying chemicals. Using two provided scarves with hand rolled hems, we will dye the scarves and steam the colors to insure their permanence.
Once dyed we will move onto sewing. Using a simple, quick pattern, you’ll join the scarves together by stitching just the shoulder and side seam. The existing rolled hem will provide a polished finish for the neckline, sleeves and bottom hem. Both Sewing Machines and hands-sewing tools will be available for use.
