An in-person mixed media workshop led by Carol Ann Webster
Are you ready to shake off winter and bring summer in your art? When I think of making art that says "early summer", I think of projects that uses leaves, flowers, and imagination. If you agree with me and want to know how to use natural materials to get started, this is your workshop.
You'll love learning how to add the lovely, summery color and pattern of leaves and flowers to watercolor paper using eco-printing.
We will use natural materials, like leaves and flowers, and plants to add color and pattern to watercolor paper. And I'll show you how to add special touches of color and texture to make your papers even more special.
In our “Eco-Print on Paper” mixed media workshop you will:
Learn how the eco-printing process works and how to make it work for your art
Choose the right leaves and flowers for maximum color and pattern
Bundle the paper and natural materials for printing with plants
“Cook” the papers and natural materials
Fun, quick techniques for adding color and texture to your eco-printed papers
Share your experiences with other artists who are new to the eco-printing process
What is included in this workshop?
Eco-Printing Process
We will have the necessary equipment and tools necessary for this process. All of the techniques are kitchen-safe and the discarded plant materials are compostable.
Activities
Each student will be able to lay out their papers adding different plant materials. But keep in mind that all results are random. Sometimes we get truly gorgeous outcomes and sometimes not. It’s all fun!
Even though all materials and equipment will be supplied, if you can gather some leaves and flowers that you would like to try in this process, please bring them.
We can experiment with what we have and discover new ways to use our leaves.
